Description

The Moomin Hobonichi Pencil Board for Weeks (Grand Ball) is made to fit the Weeks techo. It prevents ballpoint pens from slipping on the page and keeps indentations from forming, making for a much more comfortable writing experience.

The Moomin series was created in 1945 by Tove Jansson—Finland’s beloved author, painter, and artist.

Set in Moominvalley, the stories follow the gentle and curious Moomintroll; the dream-chasing and romantic Moominpappa; the warm-hearted and nurturing Moominmamma; the mischievous and strong-willed Little My; and the freedom-loving, solitary Snufkin—a cast of unique characters embarking on delightful adventures.

This design comes from the novel Comet in Moominland. It depicts an extravagant grand ball where tiny water spirits, bugs, and tree spirits have all gathered. The back shows the characters dancing joyfully around the ballroom.

The back has markings at 1 mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.

The corner of the pencil board includes a “Today” tab, which will act as a bookmark to show which day you’re on if you put it between the pages of your techo.

The Moomin lineup also includes plenty of coordinating stationery items you can enjoy together.

Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Finnish-Swedish writer and artist, who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the stories about the Moomins, written and illustrated between 1945 and 1977. The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. They are a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts.

Built for Daily Use

  • Sized for the Weeks: It slides into a Weeks techo without overhang, so your pen never wobbles across the stitched centre.
  • A ball on both sides: Water spirits, bugs and tree spirits gather for the grand ball on the front, and the dancing carries on across the back.
  • Cool to the touch, tough all year: Yupo synthetic paper is smooth and faintly waxy under the fingers and shrugs off creases, with 1 mm markings along the edge for quick measuring.
