Description

A fountain pen that carries centuries of Japanese craftsmanship in its surface. The ystudio YAKIHAKU Fountain Pen is a collaboration with Rakugei, a traditional foil art workshop in Japan, and features the rare Unryūhaku (Japanese flat foil) technique applied by hand by Kohei Murata — a third-generation craftsman devoted to reviving this near-lost art.

Each pen is entirely unique. The tones are dark and moody, with glittering vein-like patterns of aged silver foil catching the light differently from every angle. Beneath the foil sits a solid brass body, giving the pen a reassuring weight and balance. Fitted with a 14K gold nib of ystudio's own design — made in Germany — it writes with the kind of smoothness that makes you slow down and pay attention. This is an uncapped fountain pen, presented in a dark wooden gift box with pen stand.

What Makes It Work So Well

Unryūhaku flat foil, applied by hand: Each pen carries a one-of-a-kind surface pattern created using a technique that was nearly lost to history — no two pens are identical.

14K gold nib, ystudio's own design: Made in Germany, the nib delivers exceptionally smooth, responsive writing with just the right amount of give.

Solid brass body with pen stand: The brass core provides perfect weight and balance, and the included stand gives it a home on your desk when it's not in your hand.
