Yamamoto Paper Texture Series RO-BIKI Notebook, Japanese Pocket Size – Fushi-iro
Description
This is a notebook that rewards use rather than preserving perfection. The Yamamoto Paper RO-BIKI Notebook in Fushi-iro is covered in waxed paper that gradually develops a vintage character, with gentle colour shifts, scuffs, and marks that tell the story of how it’s been carried and used.
The Texture Series is Yamamoto Paper’s considered exploration of wax coating as a way to enhance the natural character of paper. Embossed patterns are created using engraved press rolls, then combined with carefully colour-controlled raw materials. After waxing, the tones deepen further, and subtle variations in transparency emerge depending on how much wax the paper absorbs. The result is a cover with depth, tactility, and quiet visual interest.
Fushi-iro itself is a muted, greyish-brown traditionally dyed using a decoction made from brushwood twigs. Calm and earthy, it sits comfortably between warm and cool tones, making it easy to live with and pleasingly understated.
Inside, the notebook uses Soliste paper throughout. Smooth and reliable, it handles pencils, ballpoints, fountain pens, and even dip pens without feathering or bleed-through. Thanks to its thread-sewn binding, the notebook opens fully to 360° and remains durable even with long-term use.
Compact, characterful, and made to age gracefully, this is a pocket notebook that feels better the more you rely on it.
