Hobonichi 2024 A6 Planner Cover [Taro Okamoto: Golden Mask]

£38.25 £51.00

The Tower of the Sun monument was erected for the 1970 World’s Fair in Osaka and stands about 70 meters tall. It remains to this day as a powerful presence in the Osaka Expo Park and is one of Taro Okamoto’s most famous works. The tower is regarded as a symbol of the energy of all things generated through the past, present, and future, and also the centre of life. The Golden Mask, which shines at the top of the tower, is featured on the techo cover.

This sparkling gold techo cover has a large image of the Golden Mask. The black sections are embossed to give it texture.

The back of the cover is also embossed with organic lines featured on the body of the tower. It’s mysterious how even this one single line can convey the style of Taro Okamoto.

When you open the cover, you can see the full view of the Tower of the Sun on the inside. Having the tower’s overpowering shape printed inside the cover makes it feel like there’s a powerful energy harnessed inside this cover, even when shut.

The interior pocket shows the Black Sun from the back of the tower, which symbolizes the past. It is printed with glossy black ink on black fabric.

The gold bookmark charms are shaped like the Tower of the Sun. The Tower of the Sun contains three faces, and the Golden Mask is said to represent the future.

Changes in 2024

The A6 planner cover is no longer sold as a set to include the planner. From 2024, you will now have the option of buying a planner to fit your cover of choice, separately. The A6 cover fits the 'planner' and the 'orginal'. Please see our range of Hobonichi planners, here.

Specifics of the A6 Cover

  1. Butterfly-stopper
This is the name for the pen holders that are on either side of the cover. By closing the techo cover and putting a pen through both pen holders, it acts as a hinge and holds the cover shut, preventing the pages from crumpling.

  2. Various pockets
The Hobonichi Techo cover comes with lots of pockets both on the inside and outside. There are various shapes and sizes, from those in which you can store small cards to those that can fit larger postcards.

  3. Two bookmarks
The covers come with two bookmarks with triangular and rectangular charms on the ends (the shape of the charms may differ depending on the cover). It’s useful to use each bookmark to mark different pages, for example using one for the monthly calendar and one for the daily pages.
