Description

The mt x SOU.SOU Kon-Nurebairo Washi Tape takes the same numerals and drops them onto a deep, lacquered black. Nurebairo is the near-blue black of a wet raven's wing, and the name is well earned. SOU.SOU designed the pattern in Kyoto; mt printed it onto a single 15mm roll of Japanese washi paper. It is the darkest thing in most stationery drawers, and by some margin the most elegant.

Against black, semi-transparent washi behaves differently: layer it and the tones shift rather than obscure. The paper is matt and faintly textured under the thumb, tears without a ragged edge, and lifts off clean. A white gel pen across it looks rather splendid.

Why You'll Love It

  • Contrast on demand: You use it whenever a page needs weight at the edge, and everything beside it looks more deliberate.
  • Never leaves residue: You lift it from paper, glass or a painted wall and nothing stays behind, no tack and no torn fibres.
  • Layers beautifully: You overlap it with lighter rolls and the black deepens rather than flattens, so no two runs look quite the same.
