Description

Made in collaboration with ONE PIECE magazine, the publication that dives deep into the world of the manga One Piece, Very Very Merry! is a special One Piece edition of the HON, the hardcover techo with an integrated cover. Every daily page carries a quote from One Piece.

To celebrate 2027, the Year of the Sheep, the cover features the Going Merry, the ship that carries the Straw Hat Crew on their voyage. It's wrapped in a bold, cheerful orange and designed to feel like a light hardcover book with a little give to it. The year 2027 is foil-pressed in silver.

Woven intricately into the glossy necktie fabric, you'll find the Merry's figurehead, seen both straight on and at an angle from above. Some versions show Luffy hugging the figurehead or Zoro taking a nap on deck, and the pattern also features the mast, the Jolly Roger, the tangerine tree, the Going Merry logo and, now and then, the Merry's own Klabautermann. The fabric isn't aligned to a fixed layout, so the placement of the pattern varies from book to book and yours will differ a little from the one in the photographs.

Each daily page features a quote selected from Volumes 1 to 113 of One Piece, organised by monthly themes: Straw Hat Crew, The Two Wings (Zoro & Sanji), ASL (Ace, Sabo & Luffy), Young Generation, Middle Generation, Elder Generation, Heroines, Animals, Rivals and Humour. For the first time ever, the December pages feature quotes from the creator himself, Eiichiro Oda, drawn from ONE PIECE magazine, the SBS reader Q&A columns in the manga volumes and the Color Walk art books.

The quotes sit at the bottom of each daily page with their source, so you can look up the volume or chapter they come from. Above each quote, a "B" (for Birthday) marker shows which character celebrates a birthday that day, covering every birthday revealed up to Volume 113, and the birthdays of all ten members of the Straw Hat Crew come with an illustration beside the date. The first page of every month carries a title and illustration reflecting that month's theme.

At the back are bonus pages exclusive to this techo, created under the direction of the ONE PIECE magazine editorial team: a One Piece Chronology of events up to Volume 114 (Chapter 1166); 30 Very Specific Things We Love About One Piece, fan-favourite scenes submitted by viewers of the official YouTube programme "Nakama ga iru yo Tube!!!!"; a One Piece Character Age List; and a WANTED poster page where you can fill in a face, a bounty and more. The standard bonus pages, including Time Table, Favorites, My 100, Solar Terms, Emergency Preparedness, Gifts, Age Table, Addresses and Personal Notes, also appear in special versions with One Piece illustrations throughout.

Just like the standard edition, the thread-stitched binding lets the techo open flat at 180 degrees, and the thin, light Tomoe River paper is printed with a 3.7 mm grid for easy reading. Inside you'll find a yearly calendar, yearly index, Monday-start monthly calendars, daily pages, memo pages and more.

The same pages are also available as the softcover Hobonichi Techo Original Book - One Piece Edition; only the cover is different.

Just as the Going Merry forged ahead across the open sea, this is a HON to take with you everywhere and fill with the story of your own great adventure.

Small Details, Big Difference

  • A crew member for every day: A different line from One Piece waits at the foot of each page, with the volume and chapter beside it, so you never write a single day of the year alone.
  • A cover that needs no cover: The hardcover is built in, its glossy woven fabric smooth beneath your fingers and scattered with the Merry, Luffy and a dozing Zoro, so it's ready the moment you unwrap it.
  • Bonus pages for the devoted: A chronology of the story, a character age list and a WANTED poster for your own bounty turn the back of the book into somewhere you'll always find yourself leafing.

Please note: This edition is printed in Japanese and is only available in the January-start, Monday-start format.
