Description

Moomin Hobonichi Ink-Absorbing Paper helps prevent ink from fountain pens and other pens from smudging or transferring onto other pages. Made with thick, fast-drying, highly absorbent paper, it soaks up excess ink with ease.

The front of each sheet features an illustration from Moominsummer Madness, a novel in the Moomin series created by Finnish author, painter and artist Tove Jansson.

It shows Moominpappa struggling to write a play script, with Moominmamma watching over him with concern. Below the illustration is a message in Finnish: “Write as much as you like.”

These sheets are printed using traditional letterpress printing, giving them a textured surface and slight variations in ink coverage that make each one unique and full of character.

The set includes 10 sheets, sized to fit neatly in any Hobonichi Techo book, including the Original, Cousin and Weeks.

In addition to fountain pens, they are great for use with wet ink pens, stamps and seals. They also make lovely cards for leaving short messages.

Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Finnish-Swedish writer and artist, who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the stories about the Moomins, written and illustrated between 1945 and 1977. The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. They are a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts.

Small Details, Big Difference

  • Ink stays where you put it: Slide a sheet behind the page you are writing on and the thick, thirsty paper drinks up every stray drop, so a wet fountain pen nib never ghosts through to tomorrow.
  • A pleasingly rough surface: Letterpress printing leaves a faint tooth you can feel under your thumb, and no two sheets carry quite the same depth of ink.
  • Ten sheets that fit all three books: You get 10 sheets cut to slip inside the Original, Cousin and Weeks alike, and they double rather nicely as a note card when someone deserves a few kind words.
