APICA is one of Japan’s quietly legendary notebook makers. Founded in Osaka in 1916 (under the rather earnest name Japan Notebook Manufacturer), the company adopted the name APICA in 1973 and has been refining good paper ever since.
Their paper is developed exclusively for APICA in collaboration with Oji Paper, a producer known for sustainable forestry and responsible manufacturing. The result is paper that always behaves beautifully with fountain pens—smooth, calm, and never prone to dramatics. Writing feels easy, comfortable, and reassuringly civilised.
