Description

The portable edition of the ystudio YAKIHAKU collaboration, this ballpoint pen carries the same extraordinary Unryūhaku flat foil technique as its fountain pen sibling — hand-applied by Kohei Murata of Rakugei, a third-generation craftsman keeping a near-lost Japanese art form alive.

Each pen is unique. Dark, moody tones are interrupted by glittering veins of aged silver foil, creating a surface that shifts with the light and belongs to no one else. The solid brass body beneath provides comfortable weight and balance for everyday writing. It comes fitted with a 0.7mm ystudio gel ink refill and also accepts standard Parker-type ballpoint refills. Presented in a deep wooden gift box with card sleeve and booklet.

What Makes It Work So Well

Unryūhaku flat foil, applied by hand: Each pen carries a one-of-a-kind pattern using a centuries-old technique — a genuine piece of art in your hand.

Solid brass body with perfect balance: The 34g brass core feels grounded and comfortable, making the pen as satisfying to write with as it is to look at.

Dual refill compatibility: Ships with a 0.7mm gel ink refill and also accepts standard Parker-type ballpoint refills for flexibility.
