Description

The Hobonichi Techo Original is where it all began—and, some 25 years on, it remains a small book with a remarkably large following. This compact A6 planner (paperback-book sized, pleasingly so) runs from April 2026 to March 2027, offering one generous page per day for life in all its scribbled, ticket-stuck, occasionally poetic glory.

Despite its modest footprint, the Original is astonishingly versatile. It happily accommodates schedules, diaries, notes, sketches, photos, and whatever else your day insists upon. Many users treat it as a daily companion rather than a desk-dweller—easy to carry, hard to outgrow.

The page layout is built around Hobonichi’s famously refined 3.7 mm grid, the result of many quiet, obsessive adjustments. It’s neat without being bossy, equally suited to tidy handwriting, diagrams, and the odd doodle that appears during meetings.

Each day includes a thoughtfully chosen Daily Word, selected from Hobonichi’s Almost Daily website. It’s a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, or simply enjoy the notebook as a small reading ritual—proof that planners can be wise as well as organised.

Thread-bound like a dictionary, the book opens a full 180 degrees and stays obligingly flat without being wrestled into submission. The pages are made from thin yet durable Tomoe River paper, beloved by fountain pen users for its smooth feel and excellent ink behaviour.

Alongside the daily pages, you’ll find annual calendars, monthly calendars, and an annual index. At the back, newly added bonus sections include This Year’s Harvest List, 12 Switches for Concentration, and For a Comfortable Sleep—because reflection, focus, and rest are all part of planning, whether we admit it or not.

As ever, the Original is designed to be paired with a separate cover. Hobonichi’s extensive cover collection offers plenty of opportunity to dress your planner to match your taste, mood, or general outlook on life.
