Description

The mt x SOU.SOU Kon-Tsukumo Washi Tape wears its numerals with complete composure. Deep indigo figures march across a clean white ground, taken from the Kyoto design house SOU.SOU and printed by mt onto a single 15mm roll of Japanese washi paper. It is a pattern with a proper sense of order, which makes it unusually good at bringing order to whatever you stick it to.

The paper is thin and slightly matt, so you feel the surface beneath rather than a layer of plastic sitting on top. It tears cleanly between finger and thumb, holds where you put it, and lifts away again without argument. Ink sits on it happily, which is more useful than it sounds.

What Makes It Work So Well

  • Order out of chaos: You reach for it whenever a page needs a margin, a divider or a date, and the numerals do the organising for you.
  • Never leaves a mark: You reposition it across notebook pages, jars and painted walls, and the surface underneath stays exactly as you found it.
  • Labels that stay legible: You write on it with a biro or a fineliner and the ink holds, so a jar labelled in January still reads clearly in June.
