Iconic Cornell Note Taking Method Notebook

$4.00

Ever heard of the Cornell method of note taking? If you have, you're either super organised or just a 'know-it-all' (it's ok, we're like this too) and if you haven't, then fear not and read on:

So, what is the Cornell Method of Note Taking?

The Cornell Method was devised by Prof. Walter Paul of Cornell University in the 1950s - hence 'Cornell Method' - and has been scientifically proven not only to be more efficient but also to make it a lot easier to review your notes.

The system relies on a method whereby any page to be used for note taking must be divided into 3 sections. 70% is for notes, 30% is for keywords and comments and just 10% for a summary. The simple layout dictates that the middle of the page is your larger 70% for notes, a margin to the left of the page makes up 30% for keywords and finally, a few lines - about 10% of the total page - is used to summarise the entirety of the page at the bottom. And that's all there is to it!

Why is it so efficient? Well, it's been shown to actively encourage you to review your notes and reflect on what's been written, through means of a summary. On the left hand side, you're advised to write down questions about the notes you've taken - 'why is the sun so hot?' (that's not a real question in case you were wondering)!

So what's Iconic produced in the 'Cornell Notebook'?

Iconic has utilised the system to create a notebook with exactly the layout Prof. Walter Paul encouraged way back in the 50's - a page split into three sections, in eight calming pastel shades. Each notebook is ring bound which helps to keep it open flat and has 26 sheets with a 4mm grid for the summary section at the bottom of each page. Sure, you could grab a sheet of paper and split it into three sections, but honestly? Why wouldn't you want something as lovely as the Iconic Cornell Notebook to write in...plus, it's already been done for you!

Good to know

  • Dimensions: 192 x 257 mm
  • Space between lines is 8mm
  • 4mm grd summary section
  • 26 pages in total
