LAMY cp1 Fountain Pen

Meet the LAMY cp1 Fountain pen: a writing instrument that embraces minimalism without sacrificing function or style. Its sleek, all-black design is accented with a silver spring-loaded clip, delivering a refined aesthetic that feels as good as it looks. The body is crafted from brushed metal, offering a tactile experience that's contrasted only by its grip.

The pen sits comfortably in the hand; it might be a tad slim for some tastes, but this slender profile makes it ideal for extended writing sessions without causing fatigue.

Now let's talk weight—or the lack thereof. The LAMY cp1 Fountain Pen is exceptionally lightweight at just 18g. While some might consider this an advantage, others might find it impacts their handwriting and if you’re in the latter group, posting the cap will add a little extra weight for better control.

The clip is more than just a visual element; it has a satisfying spring-loaded mechanism. We also like the 'Germany' engraving under the clip, a small but notable nod to Lamy's commitment to quality. If you're anything like us, you'll also appreciate the nice 'click' sound of the clip-on pen cap, which feels both satisfying and secure!

As for the writing experience, it's remarkable right out of the box. Equipped with a steel nib that offers a consistent ink flow, the pen comes in a variety of sizes—B, M, F, and EF. It's ready to write the moment you uncap it, no priming needed.

Included with the pen is a LAMY T 10 blue ink cartridge, however you can also use the LAMY Z 27 converter with the cp1 fountain pen, giving you flexibility in your ink choices. Something to note is that whilst the ink capacity is decent, we feel the converter holds a bit less ink than the cartridges do. Cartridges do ultimately work out to be the more economical option, if that's a factor when you're choosing your pen / ink.

  • Type: Fountain pen for versatile everyday use (known by some as the 'workhorse fountain pen' from the LAMY range
  • Material: Brushed metal body with grip
  • Clip: Spring-loaded silver clip
  • Ink: Comes with  ink cartridge LAMY T 10 blue
  • Weight: Lightweight design for convenient portability at just 18g

Nib Guide

Fine and Broad nibs
Writers with a straight grip will feel particularly at ease with these nibs: straight nibs are available from Lamy in sizes "extra fine" (EF), "fine" (F), "broad" (B) and "extra broad" (BB).

Tip: when choosing the correct nib width the important thing is the size of your own handwriting: the smaller your script, the finer the nib should be. A larger script on the other hand will generally look better with a broad nib.
