Platinum Pens of Japan

We're pleased to introduce Platinum Pens to our range of writing instruments. A Japanese pen manufacturer, Platinum have been making pens since 1919. We currently stock a few of their everyday pens, including the fantastic value Preppy and Plaisir fountain pens and Pro-USE mechanical pencils. We'll introduce more in the near future and as always, will be happy to order in any Platinum pens for customers as needed.

Midori Traveler's Notebook

Another Schneider pen joins the lineup at The Journal Shop. This time it's the Schneider Xpress, a very precise, high quality fineliner. Perfect for detailed writing or drawing. The Xpress is also very useful in that its ink doesn't dry up when the cap is off.

Schneider's 'Xtra Hybrid' rollerball pens proved quite popular with their rich wet ink and needle tip points. We've just added the Schneider 'Xtra Document' range, which offers a slightly thicker 0.6mm line and waterproof ink. They feature a rather cool carbon fibre design body and as you would expect from Schneider, feel extremely well constructed. Priced at just £2.99.

CIAK and Cartesio News

Good news for those of you who like to use CIAK and Cartesio notebooks.

The CIAK product lineup is about to grow a little with the launch of the new CIAK Ecological notebooks. Everything about these notebooks is eco-friendly, from the materials used to the companies those materials are sourced from. There will be four types of cover (Metal looks like it will be this writer's favourite out of the four). More information to follow.

Next up, Cartesio. No new notebooks as such, but the Cartesio will be available in two new colours - a pleasant green and a gorgeous deep red. The latter colour will undoubtedly be a favourite and is much nicer than the red used on Moleskine notebooks. We'll get the new colours in as soon as we can! Watch this space...

New CIAK Colours Now Available

The new CIAK colours are in! There are three new colours in total: royal blue, burnt orange and yellow. The current blue, tan and green will all be discontinued and we will not be receiving any more of these colours, so please stock up if you are fond of any of these.

Please let us know if you'd like to see a pink CIAK added to the store (and the size and paper type), as we may be able to order them in if we get enough requests.

Just arrived, the C.OVER NOTES (pronounced "See Over") is a refillable multipaper notebook. It comes pre-filled with plain paper, and each insert is independently refillable, so you have three sections to play around with.

New Cartesio Notebooks available for pre-order - 19/02/08

We've had these on the website for a few days now, but due to a few requests we've received, we're now making the Cartesio notebooks available for pre-order.

Named for the Latinized form of the name of the great French philosopher and mathematician, René Descartes (1596-1650), the Cartesio notebook has at its heart his most famous expression, "Cogito ergo sum." I think therefore I am.

The poster's statement "Il mondo dei tuoi pensieri in un taccuino" translates to "The world of your thoughts, in a notebook."

CIAK Update 05/02/08

A quick update for the CIAK enthusiasts out there. The new colours have been confirmed and there are six in total: black, blue, pink, red, burnt orange and yellow. The green and light purple in the image will not be produced.

We have just added Mercedes-Benz writing instruments to the store for all those who are fans of the marque. Finished in lacquer from a choice of four typically classy colours, there are four different writing implements to choose from (fountain, ballpoint, rollerball and pencil), so there's bound to be one that'll be perfect for the Mercedes enthusiast in your life.

CIAK range gets a makeover for 2008! - 18/01/08

Huge news for CIAK fans - the product range is getting a makeover. Say goodbye to the tan, green and classic blue coloured covers (the tan will definitely be missed) and say hello to yellow, burnt orange and navy, respectively. That should shake things up a bit!

If you're a fan of any of the aforementioned outgoing colours, make sure you stock up, as they will not be available again for the foreseeable future.

And there's more - a brand new paper type. As well as ruled ivory paper, CIAK will soon be available in plain ivory paper. Existing CIAK users out there may have found the current plain white paper suitable for sketching but a little less aesthetically pleasing than ivory paper for writing on, so we think the new plain ivory paper will be welcomed by users.

As well as all that, there'll also be two new styles of notebook - the CIAK Golf and CIAK Travel notebooks. The CIAK Golf is basically a slimline CIAK Pocket with preprinted paper that allows you to (hopefully) see how well your game has improved, while the CIAK Travel notebook has preprinted data pages and ivory pages with an even split of ruled and plain for writing and sketching on your travels around the world.

We'll make the complete range available as soon as it is released. If you want to register your interest, drop us a line and we'll let you know as soon as they arrive.

Moleskine notebooks now available in soft cover - 15/01/08

Moleskine notebooks are now available with a soft, flexible cover. They look and feel exactly like the classic hardback Moleskine notebooks (although they are slightly slimmer, having fewer pages). We've started with the large ruled and will add more as they come in. Available now in the Moleskine section of the store.
