So how does this work, exactly?


It's easy!

Find a product you like, add it to your shopping basket and proceed to the checkout. It's a bit like a supermarket, except you're sitting on the comfort of your armchair. The last time we got to sit down while we shopped... well it was a few years ago and our mothers pushed us around everywhere.

How does your 3 for 2 offer work?

It's just like you imagine. You buy three qualifying products. We give you one of those products for free (the one lowest in price). Qualifying items will note on the item's product page.

E.g. SPECIAL OFFER: Buy any two included items, get another free!

So to summarise:
1. add three qualifying items to your basket.
2. get one free.

That's it.

How much is shipping to my country?

International customers often ask how much shipping costs. There's an easy way to find out:
1. Add the desired items to your basket.
2. Click 'checkout' and choose your country.
3. The shipping costs will be displayed.

You do not have to enter any address information, etc to find out the cost of shipping.

How do I find something I like?

Wiith this many great pen and paper products, we just know that you will find something you like.

Our products are organised by type and brand. So, for example, if you want to find a Tombow pen, start by clicking on the 'Writing Instruments' category and then the 'Tombow' category within. You'll find the Tombow category subdivided by range.

We think this is the fastest way to get to what you want and it's also a nice way to browse if you aren't sure what you're looking for. Let us know if you prefer to do things differently.

Okay, I've found what I was looking for! Now what?

You're new to this aren't you? It's okay, we won't tell.

Click the 'Add to Cart' button on the product page. Your soon-to-be-favourite pen/notebook will be whisked to your shopping basket and you can either checkout straight away by clicking 'Checkout', or continue shopping and checkout later.

And then?

Sit back and relax. We will process and dispatch your order ASAP. You'll be using it in no time at all. Unless you bought a present for someone else. In which case, just wait until you see the smile on their face.

What if I want to return something?

You're very welcome to return any unwanted items for a full, no quibble refund or exchange. We choose our products carefully to ensure they meet a certain standard of quality, design and overall aesthetics, so we want you to be happy with both your purchase and your experience shopping with The Journal Shop.

We do have a few very basic fair rules to ensure that our returns policy isn't abused. All we ask is that you let us know within 30 days and return items in their original, unused condition with the item's original packaging. You can have a full refund of your item costs (not including any postage fees) or you can exchange the returned item(s).

When you do return an item, you are responsible for the return postage and unfortunately we can't be held responsible for loss or damage during return transit. It is advisable to keep proof of postage or use a traceable postal method so that you can make a claim in the event of loss or damage.

If you want to return an item or items for exchange, we won't charge you for postage of the replacement items.

You also have the right of cancellation under the Distance Selling Regulations, but again, you are responsible for the cost of return postage and we can't be responsible for loss or damage during return transit.

As always, this does not affect your statutory rights. If you have any other questions, please do ask us.

I've received the wrong item - what shall I do?

We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused to you and we are happy to work with you to resolve the error as swiftly as possible. We've listed some steps below that'll assist us in getting the right order back out to you:

1. Please email us as soon as you open the parcel and realise you've received the wrong item

2. Please quote your order number and what it is that you've received

3. We will send you a pre-paid envelope for the return of the incorrect product

4. Once we receive this back, we will expedite the correct item to you

5. NOTE: Please do not open the item if you are able to identify that it has been sent in error, without needing to break the seal/tear the packaging. A repacking fee will be charged where an item is unecessarily opened. If it is necessary to open the product to establish that it is in fact what you did (or did not!) order then please disregard step 5.

When can I expect to receive my order?

In short, this depends on the type of postage service you have selected at the checkout.

1.Special Delivery | If purchased before 12pm Monday-Friday, will be dispatched on the same day. It is guaranteed to arrive the following working day between the hours of 8am-1pm and will require a signature upon receipt. If you purchase this delivery option, please ensure that either you (the recipient) or someone else is / are available to sign for the parcel on your behalf. You can expect your parcel to be delayed if you fail to sign for the delivery.

2. First Class | This is not guaranteed to arrive the following working day. As per Royal Mail's guidelines you will need to allow a minimum of 6 working days (from the date of dispatch) within which to receive your order. A signature will be required upon receipt except where the order is below £5. You can expect your parcel to be delayed if you fail to sign for the delivery, but you will receive a calling card from Royal Mail. This will usually allow you to collect the parcel or to re-arrange delivery for free. Please do not wait for the parcel to be returned back to us before letting us know that you have failed to collect it - Royal Mail will hold the parcel for at least 7 days before it is returned to the sender.

3. Super Saver | This is the slowest method of postage. We use the most cost effective method to deliver your order to you so that we can continue to provide this service. Where your order is shipped immediately (or very shortly) after it is purchased, please assume that it has been sent using 2nd class. This service can take up to 10 days to arrive. If your order is shipped within 3-5 days after it is purchased, please assume that it has been sent 1st class, in which case please see point '2. First Class' above, for more information.

When can I expect to receive my order if my shipping address is not in the UK?

This depends on where your order is being received. As a general guide, please read on:

1. If you are ordering from the following countries listed below, your order will be sent using Airsure®.

Airsure® is generally a day faster than standard Airmail. Please note that Airsure® is an upmarket mail, not a courier service; this means we cannot provide a guaranteed or certain delivery time. You must allow 10-14 working days for items to arrive at European destinations and 14-25 working days for the rest of the world.

2. If your country is not listed above then your order will be sent using International Signed For. This service will require a signature upon delivery - if you fail to sign for the parcel, you will be left a notice and you must personally collect your order from your local post office / depot. Please do not wait for the parcel to be returned back to us before informing us that you have failed to sign for / collect it. A second delivery fee will be charged where an order has to be re-sent.
