The Midori Traveler's Notebook features a very high quality leather cover, every one of which is handmade by local workers in Chiangmai, Thailand.

The leather itself is 2mm thick, vegetable-tanned and being genuine and unprocessed, it still has its original scratches and marks all of which contribute to its very 'raw' natural feel. The notebook very quickly acquires a well-travelled look and feel.

Users of the black leather Traveler's Notebook may even find a fine layer of white powder on the notebook when first used. This is natural fat from the unprocessed leather and is evidence of the Midori's raw natural state; it is easily removed with a quick wipe using a soft cloth.

As you use your Midori Traveler's Notebook, it takes on character; a map of your travels and a mark of its use. Over the years, your Traveler's Notebook will become your lifetime companion. Care for your Midori Traveler's Notebook by buffing and nurturing the leather and it will stay in optimum condition for many years to come.

Having finally laid eyes and hands on the Midori 5th Anniversary Edition Traveler's Notebook, it is clear that the long wait for this limited edition Traveler's Notebook has been unreservedly justified.

Open up the 5th Anniversary Edition's light kraft packaging and your senses are struck by two things.

Firstly, the 5th Anniversary Edition's colour is an immensely beautiful shade that can perhaps best be described as akin to the sumptuous crema one might find on a very rich espresso.

Secondly, the smell of this 5th Anniversary limited edition Traveler's Notebook is intoxicating. Taking in deep breaths of the notebook in the first few moments after opening the package is a real treat, almost a bonding experience. As these notebooks are life partners (as any current user will testify), this is an apt way to start what one can only hope will be a creative and enriching experience.

Inside the packaging you will find the Camel Traveler's Notebook itself; a brown elastic band already fitted to the leather cover; a spare brown band; a spare green elastic band as an alternative; 1 x 003 plain paper notebook; and a handmade cotton carry case to protect your notebook when on the move.

The excitement of seeing and handling this 5th Anniversary Traveler's Notebook was mitigated only by the melancholic realisation that this is a limited edition item; that this achingly beautiful item will be available for a time and then no more. Against that feeling, one can only appreciate how special this notebook is all the more.

Unfortunately we will have the 5th Anniversary Edition Traveler's Notebook in very limited numbers. To those who are fortunate enough to receive one, this writer hopes you enjoy, use and journey with your notebook wherever your travels take you.
